In Episode 48, we discussed the once mighty Japanese gaming market and its continued, gradual decline. It is not an overstatement to say the United States of America has single-handedly kept the traditional console-based gaming model alive, without which we’d all be playing Candy Crush and other assorted mobile games. You would think that all major video game companies would show their American brethren some love with the finest trinkets of gaming goodness that they have to offer, but you would be wrong. In today’s episode, we explore this phenomenon and offer some potential reasons why this has come to pass.
